Personally, this is probably at least in my top 3 games ever. Instead, I’m going to do what I do best and give my opinion of the game.
Plus, there’s thousands of places online where you can find that information. If I were to go in depth too far with the story of MGS1, I’d be here all day.
The kind of stuff that just doesn’t happen today. Metal Gear Solid had some of the most iconic boss battles of all time, including the battle with Psycho Mantis, a character with telekinetic powers that is all but impossible to complete unless you switch your controller from port one to port two on the console. Throughout the course of the game, Snake encounters numerous characters, some allied and some his enemies. Snake also discovered that Liquid was in possession of a Metal Gear, a bi-pedal tank of enormous size capable of launching a Nuke from anywhere in the world. After infiltrating the base, Snake discovers that the person responsible for the kidnapping was none other then his brother, Liquid Snake. The game follows Solid Snake who was begrudgingly taken away from his self-imposed isolation in the Alaskan wilderness to investigate the kidnapping of DARPA boss by renegade military unit Foxhound on the mysterious Shadow Moses island base in Alaska. With the advent of the powerhouse that was the Playstation One, famed director Hideo Kojima decided to re-awaken his franchise for a new generation of consoles.
It introduced the ability to hide and flee from enemies, a “flight rather then fight” approach that was revolutionary to gaming. The name “metal gear” had existed before this during the Nintendo era in the 1980s.

In 1998, the legendary series was rebooted in the form of Metal Gear Solid. A month on from the release of the magnificent Metal Gear Solid 5: The phantom Pain, I think it’s time to look back on the history of the series.
